Colt Prattes cast as Johnny in Dirty Dancing remake

The upcoming three-hour Dirty Dancing movie also will feature Abigail Breslin taking on the role of Baby that was played by Jennifer Grey in the 1987 original.

Last year, it was announced the Scream Queens actress would be playing the lead character in ABC’s remake of Dirty Dancing!

While it remains to be seen if Prattes can pull off Swayze’s signature brood for the performance, he looks more than capable of pulling off the big lift in the final dance routine. He also danced with the pop singer P!nk in her music video for the song “Try”, at the Grammy Awards and on tour.

Wayne Blair is set to direct, while Tony award-winner Andy Blankenbuehler, who worked on hit Broadway musical Hamilton, will choreograph.

But after lightly stalking his Instagram, we certainly will be having the time of our lives watching Prattes on the screen! He made Broadway appearances in West Side Story and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

Unlike recent TV remakes such as Grease and The Wiz, the production will be filmed in advance, not aired live, and will be executive produced by the original movie’s screenplay writers Allison Shearer and Eleanor Bergstein.
