Colts Andre Johnson Thought About Signing With Dolphins – Horseshoe Heroes
When the Miami Dolphins selected DeVante Parker with the No. 14 pick of the 2015 National Football League Draft, it was the cherry on top of an offseason overhaul of the receivers available to quarterback Ryan Tannehill.
Johnson told Jackson that he isn’t “angry” about the Dolphins lack of interest in him, and it’s a good thing he understands “the business side” here, because there are pretty clear reasons for why the Dolphins didn’t show interest in Johnson. Both players ended up signing with the Indianapolis Colts. When asked about playing for the Dolphins, … “I always had a dream of playing at home”.
Those Panther fans that attend final two practices at Gibbs Stadium at Wofford College are in for a treat. The Dolphins are a team on the rise and should provide some interesting story lines even for a preseason game. “But they never called”.
The seats were removed during this offseason’s renovations, and will be sold to benefit the team’s foundation to support education, health and volunteer work in the region. At 33, Johnson’s best days are likely in the rearview mirror, but the same could be said for 31-year-old Jennings, who hasn’t eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving since 2010. Probably Johnson.
Still, Johnson sounds like a guy who knows he landed in a good spot with the Colts and holds no ill will toward the Dolphins for not pursuing him.
The big difference between the two receivers may have been the price tags.
Surely there are a lot of Dolphins fan who would’ve preferred to see the team go after Johnson instead of Greg Jennings, but the latter signed a deal that came with a lower cap hit by $5 million.
Considering Miami has about $10 million in cap space at the moment, per over the Cap.com, it makes sense that they would be particularly cognizant of their proximity to the cap.
