Colts QB Luck cleared to play vs. Jets

Indianapolis is 5-6 but is just one game out of the AFC South lead and is positioned to make a playoff run.

Both teams have hard schedules down the stretch, but if the Colts can come out of their next two with wins, they will set themselves up with a great opportunity to close out the division in games where they can prove their worth.

Marshall practiced for the first time this week on Saturday. Luck hasn’t necessarily fared well away from home, as he has thrown at least one interception in four of his five starts away from Lucas Oil Stadium in 2016, which has translated in a 2-3 road record for the Colts.

As for the receivers?

But the task Monday night is significant. However, Hilton has been a full participant in practice for consecutive days, and it would be surprising if he didn’t in fact play. If the running game isn’t effective “we’re not going to beat our heads against a wall”. So we control what we can control.

“They have a bunch of players on that side of the ball that can flat-out play, they are well-coached, play hard, they are physical”. Luck said he was not sure when that evaluation would take place. “It’s an aggressive style of defense”.

That’s not to say that they’re not big losses, though.

Indianapolis offset those big plays past year with an equal number of turnovers.

The Jets’ defense features six first-round picks, two second-rounders and a third-round selection. NY could also look to exploit Indianapolis’ 23rd-ranked run defense (116.3 yards per game) with veteran Matt Forte, who has amassed 508 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns (four rushing, one receiving) in the past five contests.

That’s a 14-point swing in a game the home team lost by 13 points. He’s also rushed for 246 yards and a score. It can’t go as badly as the last time, can it? Luck hasn’t received the final clearance to play, however.
