Comedian Aziz Ansari gets his own Netflix series, ‘Master of None,’ premiering
Netflix has announced the premiere dates for “Longmire“, the Western series Netflix picked up from A&E, and Aziz Ansari’s (“Parks and Recreation”) new series, “Master of None“, plus a Season 3 renewal for “BoJack Horseman“.
Here’s the logline on “Longmire:”. Season 4 picks up moments after the Season 3 finale with Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor), having found out who was behind the murder of his wife and setting out to find the killer. Meanwhile, Branch has confronted his father (Gerald McRaney), who Branch believes to be the real culprit. But during his confrontation with this suspected killer, a gun went off. The entire cast returns, by the way.
The comic has already headlined comedy specials for the streaming site but, “Master of None, ‘” is a comedy that will follow the actor as an indecisive 30-year-old named Dev, living in New York. The series, which will bow Friday, November 6, hails from Alan Yang, Mike Schur, Dave Becky and David Miner.
All 12 episodes of BoJack Horseman’s second season were released on Netflix earlier this month on July 17 and were met with glowing reviews from critics, many of whom have called BoJack Netflix’s best show. It was created by Raphael Bob-Waksberg and is produced by Michael Eisner’s Tornante Co.; Steven A. Cohen and Noel Bright exec produce alongside Arnett and Aaron Paul. The series also stars H.
Also on deck for 2016 is the documentary film Chelsea Does, which is comprised of four films that feature Chelsea Handler exploring a variety of topics that include marriage, racism, technology and drugs. In Q4, the service will launch the four-episode sketch comedy series With Bob and David, starring Bob Odenkirk and David Cross; Marvel’s Jessica Jones, starring Krysten Ritter and David Tennant; Sofia Coppola’s A Very Murray Christmas, starring Bill Murray; the third and final season of Hemlock Grove; and Bill Burr’s animated comedy series F is for Family, starring Burr, Laura Dern and Justin Long.
Two new shows with no set premiere dates – other than “Coming Soon” – were also officially announced. Exact dates will be announced later. “Popples” will bow sometime in November, and “Care Bears and Cousins” in December.
