Comedy at NY City Hall: Louis C.K. shadows de Blasio
Mayor Bill de Blasio and Louis C.K. have some history – in March the actor-comedian appeared at the annual Inner Circle show. Only 45 percent of voters are “very satisfied” or “somewhat satisfied” with the way things are going in the city today, while 55 percent are “somewhat dissatisfied” or “very dissatisfied”.
De Blasio is not up for re-election until 2017.
Wolfson wrote, “Amazing. Guy who ran on ending “two cities” has a bigger gap btwn white and AA approval (32 points in new Q poll) than Bloomberg ever did”.
Carroll noted the racial divide that has marked de Blasio’s tenure continues, with 64 percent of black voters approving of the mayor and 59 percent of white voters giving him a thumbs-down. Latino voters backed Mr.de Blasio 48 to 38 percent.
New York’s murder rate has jumped more than 10 per cent in the past year, forcing the mayor on the defensive over any suggestion America’s largest city is returning to its dark days.
The election calendar keeps getting shorter.
The survey found de Blasio’s approval rating remained at 44 percent, consistent with Quinnipiac’s last poll on May 12.
The Jewish Comptroller also has a positive rating among Republicans, as 41-33 approve his job performance, while 80% disapprove de Blasio’s job performance as mayor.
But poll struggles are certainly not unprecedented for New York City mayors. He publicly fought with Gov. Andrew Cuomo-which apparently did not help him with voters, based on this poll-and faced a multi-million dollar advertising onslaught from Uber, the e-hail giant which opposed his attempts to regulate the industry.
