Committed to building Ram Temple at Ayodhya: BJP
With the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections coming up in 2017, the issue of building a Ram Temple in Ayodhya is heating up.
Tewari’s comments came a day after Union culture minister Mahesh Sharma claimed that the Centre is committed to the construction of the temple in Ayodhya where the Babri Masjid was demolished back in 1992. He also said that it is the Nation’s dream and so Ram Mandir ought to be built.
Sharma, who represents the Gautam Budh Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh, has frequently raised issues with strong Hindutva overtones.
“Our party and government have already given their mandate on this issue. This is why it is taking time”, he said while speaking at a function here on Tuesday.
Congress chief Manish Tewari on Wednesday demanded an inquiry into what occurred to all of the funds collected through the years for development of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He added a caveat.
“I spoke to Mahesh Sharma just now”.
With his remarks sparking a controversy, Sharma later stressed that senior party leaders will take a decision on the issue.
At a time when political heat is soaring over the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, “Ram Lalla” (infant Lord Rama) is braving the winter chill without sweater and quilt.
“A grand museum is being constructed in Ayodhya”. Expressing “joy” at the setting up of a museum, Singh said that in August he had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking for an worldwide Ramayana Centre to be built in Ayodhya.
Asserting its resolve to build the Ram temple, the VHP had in June announced a nationwide drive to collect stones for construction of the temple and had also asked the Muslim community not to pose any hindrance.
Recently, the difficulty of Ram Mandir has been making information. The CM has directed officials to take steps to maintain law and order in the town.
