Hershey is one of only 13 companies from the Food, Beverage and Tobacco Industry in the World Index and ranked in the 93 percentile overall.
Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) has been named in the 2015 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), the first time the company has been listed.
For the past several years, Air Products had also been included in the DJSI World Index and this year, improved its performance and scores in many categories. “Customers and consumers alike expect companies like ours to have a laser focus on corporate social responsibility initiatives and our inclusion on DJSI reflects just how hard we work to meet this expectation”.
The Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index is composed of North American sustainability leaders as identified by RobecoSAM through a corporate sustainability assessment.
“This confirmation by the world’s leading sustainability indices DJSI World and DJSI Europe underlines that we are on a good way of combining commercial success with responsible business activities”, said Deutsche Post DHL Group CEO Frank Appel. Information from the annual Sustainability Report is used as part of the DJSI evaluation process. Indexes are updated yearly and companies are monitored throughout the year. “A child with an empty stomach can’t focus on school, and we’re addressing that need in West Africa and in our local communities in the USA and where we do business around the world”. Hershey launched the program in partnership with the Ghana School Feeding Program and non-profit, Project Peanut Butter. The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) recognize forward thinking companies based on an appraisal of the company’s strategy, management and its performance in dealing with opportunities and risks deriving from economic, environmental and social developments.
S&P Dow Jones Indices managing director and chairman of the index committee David Blitzer said: “More and more investors look at companies’ environmental policies and track records in making their investment decisions”.
