Conan Exiles Is a Barbarous Open-World Survival Game
“There is no better setting for an open-world survival game than the world of Conan”, Funcom creative director Joel Bylos said. This game will be released in an Early Access manner starting this summer, and a “full launch on PC and console” will follow.
The developer’s description of the game certain sounds Conan-like: “You are an exile, one of thousands cast out to fend for themselves in a barbaric wasteland swept by bad sandstorms and besieged on every side by enemies”.
Conan Exiles will allow players to create a character and team with others to survive the Hyborian wilderness. Where the weak are crushed, while the strong survive.
Funcom is taking another, presumably violent, stab at a Conan game with Conan Exiles.
The game’s website promises that players will be able to play in single-player, or fight and forage with other players on private and public servers. Based on that information alone, it looks like the game might be handling too many genres at once.
In Conan Exiles, you have to survive and build in the brutal world of Conan the Barbarian.
Your first priority is to survive, by growing crops, hunting, making tools and weapons from materials and a shelter just to stand a chance in the land of Conan. Ride across a vast world and explore alone, or band together with other players to build entire settlements and fortified strongholds. It hasn’t been specified yet which consoles the game will be coming to.
“Unleash your fury in savage, fast-paced combat and execute bloody and bone-crushing attacks that will see heads rolling and limbs flying”, Funcom said.
