Conan O’Brien remembers his best late-night moments with David Bowie
Celebrity Big Brother has landed itself in hot water with viewers after airing a clip of housemate Angie Bowie crying over the death of her ex-husband, musician David Bowie.
“[It] was very humbling to receive some lovely messages from David Bowie fans who have been very touched by the musical tributes”, he told ITV News.
Sadly, David Bowie’s 60 Minutes profile wasn’t meant to be.
Ten of Bowie’s songs cracked Spotify’s “Global Top 50” on Monday, the streaming service’s daily ranking of the most played tracks. With a bit of help by Nile Rodgers, the “Let’s Dance” era didn’t sit well with some fans of the star at the time, who were perhaps hoping for something less “commercial” from David Bowie, but it’s gone on to be one of his staple sounds.

“Blackstar”, released on Bowie’s 69th birthday Friday, was on course to be the first No. 1 album in the United States for the quintessentially avant-garde artist who lived his last two decades in NY but enjoyed greater mainstream success in his native Britain.
Rough Trade, the taste-making British store that also runs New York’s largest record shop, said it would donate all proceeds from sales of Bowie’s work in January to cancer research.

People had brought guitars to mourn Bowie in the way that perhaps seemed the most fitting – by coming together to sing his songs.
His 1972 album, The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars, now rests at number 19, 1972’s Hunky Dory is at 20, and 1973’s Aladdin Sane sits at 32.
Following David’s death, his 25th studio album Blackstar has charged up the United Kingdom music charts proving just how much of an inspiration he was, and continues to be.
The BRIT Awards tribute comes after it was announced a planned concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall will now go ahead as a memorial to the singer.
The event featuring Cyndi Lauper, Perry Farrell and The Roots will take place on 31 March.
