Concealed Carry Permit Holder Protects Family After Suspect Opens Fire in
A 62-year-old man faces several charges after Cincinnati police say he fired at four people, including a 1-year-old boy.
Police said Thomas McCary, 62, started shooting after getting into a fight with a woman Sunday night.
During the dispute, her brother, Patrick Ewing, walked over to see what was going on.
Ewing was not hit, but he had a gun on him and holds a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
It was then that the injured McCary went back into his house. McCary squeezed off a few more rounds, hitting no one, before withdrawing into his apartment, Cincinnati.com reported.
However, the attacker soon return with an additional firearm and fired more shots towards the woman, her 1-year-old son and another man. The legal gun owner returned McCary’s fire, wounding the suspect and putting an end to the carnage, as indicated by FOX19.
McCary was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was arrested at 2:30 a.m. He was treated, released and booked into the Hamilton County Jail by 3:42 a.m. McCary is scheduled to face a judge Monday morning.
The mother and child were able to run back into their home unharmed as McCary turned his attention to Ewing.
The confrontation between the men began after Ewing tried to stop an argument between McCary and his sister, Jeaneta Walker, the affidavit states.
