Concept previews new Subaru Impreza
The design of the concept indicates that the new Impreza will have a much more radical design than the current model, featuring a lot of sharp lines and creases in the body shell. As its name implies, the Impreza 5-Door Concept is an accurate preview of the next-generation Impreza that will likely land in time for the 2017 model year.
Subaru held the world premiere of the VIZIV Future concept at the 2015 Tokyo Auto Show this week, along with the WRX STI S207 limited-edition model and the Impreza 5-Door Concept.
The Viziv Future is actually the third iteration of Subaru’s Viziv (short for “Vision for innovation”) line of SUV concepts, and like the XV Crosstrek it’s in the form of a compact SUV.
As for the innards, the 2017 Impreza will usher in more efficient flat-four engines fitted with direct fuel-injection and Subaru’s fuel-saving cylinder deactivation technology.
The new EyeSight version combines the advanced frontal recognition of the current system with radar sensing in all directions, allowing the vehicle to perceive the traffic environment all around it and assess the risk of movements on all sides.
The newest concept signed by the Japanese based automaker Subaru is riding on the Subaru Global Platform, as the company is stating, and it’s bringing a hybrid setup under its hood, using a downsized turbocharged boxer engine and an electric motor, sending the power to the upgraded symmetrical all-wheel drive system. Inside the Viziv Future, Subaru is also previewing a camera that monitors the driver for alertness. By “talking” to other cars it can anticipate risky weather, traffic snarls and accidents.
