Concerns overshadow Xi’s meeting with U.S. Tech CEOs

In recent years, China has taken a series of investment facilitation steps, revoking restrictive items and adopting a management model based on pre-establishment national treatment as well as a negative list approach.
According to surveys by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and other authoritative worldwide bodies, China remains the world’s most attractive investment destination, Xi said.
The investment treaty is expected to continue expanding two-way trade and investment and cementing the foundation of China-US economic ties.
Since the devaluation, China has scrambled to keep the yuan steady – running down its foreign exchange reserves by a record US$94 billion in August.
“I could tell from these personal experiences that the Chinese and Americans cherish very friendly sentiments toward each other”, Xi said.

He said China was a staunch defender of cyber security, but it had also been a victim of hacking.
He called on the worldwide community to work together to build a peaceful, secure, open and cooperative cyberspace on the basis of the principles of mutual respect and mutual trust.
Acknowledging that China and the United States don’t always see eye to eye, Xi said China is ready to set up a joint effort with the United States to fight cybercrimes.
