Confirmed: Chelsea sign Ghana left-back Baba Rahman
The club re-sold Brazilian star Felipe Luis back to Atletico Madrid earlier this week (via Daily Mail), prompting Jose Mourinho to splash the cash on the Ghanaian left-back as a replacement.
Baba Rahman is hopeful Augsburg accept Chelsea’s £17.5 million (€25m) offer, according to his agent, as it would be his dream move.
Chelsea are confident of securing a move for highly rated Augsburg defender Baba Rahman, sources have told ESPN FC.
Rahman’s representative Sascha Empacher has confirmed that the Premier League champions have approached Augsburg and hinted that a deal was close.
Chelsea previously had Manchester City and Arsenal as competition to sign Rahman, who has 11 caps for Ghana, but west London remained the most likely destination throughout the summer.
When asked about the arrival of a new left-back, he said: “I don’t know”. But we try. We don’t have, we have only one.
The fee agreed with the Blues is ten times what Augsburg paid for the player exactly a year ago and so represents an impressive piece of business for the small Bavarian side.
Will Rahman be a good signing for Chelsea?
