Congress indulging in Goebbelsian propaganda: Finance minister Arun Jaitley
Congress is opposed to the Goods and Services Tax Bill in its present form.
The Rajya Sabha witnessed repeated adjournments over the National Herald case while Congress members staged a walkout from the Lok Sabha, demanding suspension of or an apology from Bharatiya Janata Party’s Virendra Singh for his remarks against Congress leaders.
Former Finance Minister and Congress member P Chidambaram has denied any relation between the summoning of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, and the protest in Parliament.
Government sources said finance minister Arun Jaitley and parliamentary affairs minister M. Venkaiah Naidu might invite the Congress’s Rajya Sabha leaders, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma, for talks. After the Subramanian committee report on the tax, it appears Jaitley will now be doing that. “The battle has to be fought legally”. By a series of financial transactions, the leaders of Congress have created a chakravyuh for themselves. It is also trying to make false and baseless allegations to defame the Prime Minister and the government after having failed to convince the courts, he said. BJP’s volte-face had raised hopes for a smooth winter session of Parliament and passage of crucial Bills, but they have now been dashed with the obstructionist approach of the Congress MPs. I say to you here that there is absolutely no link… He alleged that the Congress leadership was guilty of commercially exploiting prime land – allocated to the paper for commercial purposes – after the paper was shut down. “National Herald is a separate issue and the GST is a separate issue”, PTI quoted Rahul as saying. “But, there are several other measures for the poor that are pending in Parliament”, he said. They have transferred incomes of a political party to a real estate company. “In this case, what step has the government of India taken for which Parliament can be obstructed”, asked. “Neither Prime Minister nor does the party have anything to do with them”, he said.
“But you (Congress) presume and then repeat it again and again and start believing in it. And start paralysing the country’s democracy”, he said, referring to the party stalling Parliament alleging “vendetta politics”. “They rubbished it, said it can not be done…it’s completely nonsense”. “They have a bill today in the parliament, but think it is a flawed bill, we have pointed out the flaws”. This disruption has been going on since three to four days, but his party disrupted the house for three to four months. If judges really want to see Sonia ji or Rahul ji, they can take the appointment and visit 10 Janpath, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said while checking Rahul Gandhi’s holiday calendar.
