Conor Gillaspie: Traded To Angels

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels have acquired infielder Conor Gillaspie from the Chicago White Sox for cash.

Gillaspie had opened the season as the White Sox starter after having a solid 2014 campaign at 3B (.752 OPS). 237 with 15 RBI in 58 games and losing the third base job to Tyler Saladino.

Freese must wear a splint on his non-displaced fracture for two weeks before the Angels know how much longer he’ll be out.

Gillaspie should have a chance to play in Los Angeles in the short term after Angels third baseman David Freese fractured his right index finger, an injury that will keep him out at least two weeks. Gillaspie is going to participate with the Angels on Saturday.

Kyle Kubitza, called up initially when Freese was injured, started at third base on Friday and went 1-for-3. Gillaspie also plays first base. Kubitza was the starting third baseman for the Angels on Friday night. 336 on-base percentage, .416 slugging percentage, seven homers and 57 RBIs in 130 games.
