Conor McGregor aiming to break Floyd Mayweather’s records

It seems that the newly-crowned undisputed champion has his eyes on another title, and is considering moving up a weight class to take on the challenge of the lightweight fighters.

“One round. I’ll KO him. I can take over this, ‘” said McGregor.

While White said on ESPN that he would prefer McGregor to vacate the belt before moving up and have Aldo and Edgar fight for it, McGregor would rather do things on his own terms.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, McGregor described how exactly he would beat Aldo and eerily enough, his pre-fight prediction became pretty much reality.

On Saturday night, the 27-year-old Irishman successfully completed his hostile takeover of Jose Aldo’s UFC featherweight title.

McGregor said after the fight he’s proud of all of the records he was part of this week.

He said: “All through the week I’m watching videos of the Irish going insane throughout Las Vegas… the Irish fans, you can’t beat them”. It’s a sport. We lost the battle today, but if it’s God’s will, we lost the battle, not the war.

“We need the rematch because that was not a fight, so we need to get back in here”.

McGregor has been credited, along with former women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, with widening the appeal of mixed martial arts. “There’ll be a belt on one shoulder and a belt on the other shoulder”.

McGregor has had his eye on moving up from featherweight (145 pounds) to lightweight (155 pounds) for awhile, meaning he could fight the victor of this week’s title bout between Rafael dos Anjos and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.

“I’d be floored”, says Edgar via MMA Junkie in the event he would not get an immediate title shot.
