Conor McGregor buys new home in Ireland worth €2 million
After calling out Conor McGregor in a profanity-filled post-fight interview with Joe Rogan in the Octagon on Saturday night, one that FOX edited almost every word of, UFC Lightweight contender Nate Diaz spoke with Ariel Helwani and claimed UFC matchmaker Joe Silva told him that Diaz vs. McGregor “is on”.
“Conor McGregor, I will go to Ireland to face you”. If he wants a real fight, he knows where the money fight’s at. It’s better to stay in the featherweight division. So we’ll see. I’m just waiting to see what UFC wants.
“You see these very large athletes – National Football League players, blow their ACL and they are crying like little kids. That’s the easy fight, you want that real sh-t right here!”
Dos Anjos said: “Conor McGregor has been saying that he wants to come to my division and I think it’s not going to be a smart decision for him”.
After the fight Diaz called out Conor McGregor using many expletives that couldn’t be aired on Fox in prime time. McGregor, of course, recently unified the UFC featherweight titles and made it known he was looking to compete for lightweight gold next. But he won’t fare (well) with the top (lightweight fighters).
As the loquacious Irishman had said at last weekend’s postfight press conference, “The options are there now”.
“He’s going to fight him or him?” he asked, referring back to the poster before making a reference to McGregor berating Cerrone and dos Anjos at a news conference in Las Vegas.
He was also critical of the fighters in the main event, who will be competing for the title in his own weight class.
“He talks all that money-fight s***, then he knows where it’s at”. “I’ve got some injuries this last fight but I want to heal up, enjoy the holidays, my son’s birthday is coming up so I’m going to take him to Disneyland and that will be my first trip”.
Former welterweight champion Matt Hughes once famously said, ‘you’re not a real champion until you’ve defended your title.’ Edgar hopes McGregor feels the same way and believes NY is the prefect place to host it. I’m not begging for no fight, but we’re talking about big fights. The build up to the fight would be incredible and fans would be in the middle.
