Conor McGregor continues preparations ahead of UFC 196 showdown with Nate Diaz
Time to reduce weight to lightweight class was not possible but McGregor always said that fight with anyone.
Other than than, Perez accused McGregor recently that he is under steroids since his move from 155 to 170 is too fast. I thought it was my last fight ever. McGregor responded angrily: “I’m not on no steroids”. I have lambasted everyone that has been caught for steroids. “Don’t forget, in July they called upon me and I said yes and it still wasn’t given to me”. His team-mates, Gilbert Melendez and Jake Shields, have both previously failed drug tests. “I pay no attention to it. It was ridiculous”.
And if all goes as planned, he may be doing that against McGregor at UFC 200 this July.
One can not help but feel that Diaz’s camp is deliberately trying to lure McGregor into a grudge match on Saturday by continuously throwing these doping jabs. Yet, with all the hype on “the Nortorious” hands, Perez believes that it in not much of a concern for Diaz in preparation for his fight.
“I just get focused and he gets focused and we just start training”.
Coming off two KO wins in a row, Ilir Latifi will now go up against Gian Villante who knocked out Anthony Perosh last time out.
“All of a sudden [he’s] jumping to 170?” So no, there’s something going on. Yeah there’s no way, because I mean, he was supposed to be fighting at 155. His words were quickly published on bloodyelbow.com and SBG coach John Kavanagh had a swift retort (below).
Perez added: “When Nathan mentioned it to him, he got defensive, he got angry”.
“Oh I sure do believe that; heck yeah“. But he got defensive and mad, you know, “I’m not on steroids, I’m not on steroids!” “I’m not on steroids, I’m not on steroids”.
Perez’s comments, at the very least, give rise to two contradicting narratives as to how the bout was arranged.
According to Khabib’s father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, his son was ready to face McGregor at UFC 196 but the UFC was not willing to make the fight. So think about it. If you see that, you would think he had two more weeks to go, he would be close to 155 and stay on that, you know, or go to 160. And all of a sudden he’s gonna jump to 170? “So that’s kinda shady right there”. “Georges St-Pierre was on steroids when I fought him”, said the 32-year-old.
