Conor McGregor’s Irish fans run wild in Vegas after his KO win
Aldo, the soft-spoken featherweight title holder of five years, had been undefeated in an MMA fight since November 2005.
McGregor KO’d Jose Aldo in 13 seconds, landing only one punch, and he became the UFC undisputed featherweight champion. After a year filled with title upsets, McGregor adds his name to the list of new champions in 2015.
Paddy Power are offering new customers enhanced odds of 30/1 on Liverpool, Spurs, Juve, Atletico and Real Madrid to win on Sunday.
In response to another question from the press, Notorious said: “Although it’s a nice feeling to get that knockout, it’s kind of not nice because you can see what’s happening around”.
McGregor stands alone in the UFC after tearing down records in the final pay-per-view card of the year.
In the meantime fans are feeling cheated as after 14 months of build-up for the fight they had merely 13 seconds of fight.
In the night’s other big fight, Luke Rockhold claimed the UFC middleweight title with a fourth-round stoppage of previously unbeaten champion Chris Weidman.
One way or another, it doesn’t look like Jose Aldo is getting another crack at Conor McGregor any time soon.
“He threw a cross at my chest I wasn’t expecting”, Aldo said via a translator.
Here’s the problem: If Ronda Rousey is getting a rematch with Holly Holm (which Rousey wants to happen at UFC 200), Aldo easily deserves one against McGregor.
“It feels attractive. I’ve dreamt this so much, so clearly, so precisely and so frequently that it’s manifested itself into reality”.
“Jose was an incredible champion”.
“Timing bests speed, precision beats power, and that is it”.
However, according to mmajunkie.com, McGregor could be eyeing a move up in weight to the lightweight division- just don’t think for a second that the Irishman is giving up his featherweight title in the process. “Nobody can take that left hand shot”.
White continued, “This time we had both these guys completely healthy, injury-free [and] it couldn’t have been a better set up for a fight”.
I wish him and his loyal team well on their journey back.
For his part, Edgar was hoping to get the nod as McGregor’s next opponent, possibly at UFC 198, which will take place on April 23, 2016.
