Conor McGregor ‘smashes UFC record’ for money earned per second during Jose
Conor McGregor has taken to Instagram to thank his family, team and supporters following his 13-second knockout victory over José Aldo in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Jose Aldo spoke with Brazilian MMA media outlet Combate on Sunday, and unsurprisingly the now former champion was still struggling to come to terms with his brief but brutal defeat at the powerful hands of Conor McGregor at UFC 194. Now it’s easy. Now say, “ah, that Aldo lost, they did not know what”.
This is what Aldo actually said: “It didn’t affect me in anything”.
Jones insisted that if Ronda Rousey was granted an immediate rematch to Holly Holm despite a convincing loss at UFC 193, there is no reason White should not make a second installment of Aldo vs McGregor.
Jones, who was stripped of his UFC title earlier this year following a Driving Under the Influence arrest, still feels Aldo and McGregor can be the epic throw-down we all expected.
“No power, just precision”.
Just seconds after the fight began Aldo approached the Irishman, lunging forward with a punch combination.
“Nobody can take that left-hand shot”, he said. Aldo’s wish for a rematch, despite his reign serving as the only featherweight one in UFC history until late Saturday night, looks unlikely to be fulfilled any time soon. “We need a rematch”.
The rematch itself is very hard to do right now as “Notorious” is planning to move up to challenge the Lightweight champion and Frankie Edgar just earned himself a ticket to fight for the Featherweight title. “Most certainly I’m looking to replicate what I did in my previous promotion: a two-weight world champion held consecutively. I will create traps and dead space inside that octagon, and I will walk him into that dead space, but all of a sudden he will be in danger'”. “Much stronger. You can be sure we will come back stronger and far more champions than it already was”.
I was hopeful that Aldo would dismantle him and derail the hype train with McGregor at its head.
