Constitution Day Activities for Kids

Often emulated but never replicated, the Constitution outlines the uniqueness of the United States, its government, and the rights of citizens. On this day in 1787, 39 signatures concluded the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. The necessary first nine states ratified the U.S. Constitution, in short order, to form the new Union, and eventually all states—North Carolina was the penultimate one—ratified the U.S. Constitution. Philadelphia was the nation’s largest city, with 40,000 inhabitants.
