Conte: Chelsea Different Since Defeats To Arsenal, Liverpool
Harry Redknapp has reiterated that he considers Tottenham’s squad to be stronger than that pieced together by Antonio Conte at table-topping Chelsea.
After a run of six straight league wins without even conceding a goal, Chelsea’s challenge was put to a stiff test when Spurs took an early lead at Stamford Bridge through a fine strike by Christian Eriksen.
“Part of the game is you’ve got to learn to deal with defeat and unfortunately we’ve had two defeats in a week, and it hasn’t been great in the dressing room – it’s been a little bit down and everyone’s been upset, as you can imagine”.
“Stamford Bridge is flawless if we are able to create the right atmosphere, it’s really important for us”, Conte insisted.
Pep Guardiola’s City had usurped Chelsea at the top courtesy of a 2-1 win at Burnley, but only for a few hours as Liverpool beat Sunderland 2-0 at Anfield to climb above the Manchester club.
“On Saturday we have another and don’t forget against Arsenal and Liverpool we lost”.
The primary reason for this change has been the extraordinary success of Conte’s move to a 3-4-2-1 formation, with the system seemingly giving Chelsea the flawless mix of attacking options and defensive resilience.
In the first half, the Blues had set up too deep and invited Tottenham to press the early initiative, but Pedro’s magnificent intervention on the brink of the interval turned the game on its head.
Only Liverpool can better that record, but Chelsea have one more point on the board than the men from Merseyside.
“We are working for only four months on some aspects”. ‘We want to keep going like this.
“If someone thinks the fault is the players – no, the fault is mine, always. We have to continue to work”. They pushed us and supported us a lot during the game.
Chelsea retained their place at the summit after they claimed a seventh successive league victory.
“No worry, no concern about nothing”, he told reporters. “It is important our crowd live the game with great intensity and passion, because they can transfer this to the players”. We come from Monaco. “This league is very tough”, Conte said.
Willian and Marcos Alonso also shared photos of the players celebrating in the dressing room while Costa, Victor Moses and Cesar Azpilicueta also uploaded photos and messages to Twitter. I can understand that. Today or this period if you talk about this (the title) it’s not right.
“I am contracted to Chelsea for this season and then will see after that”.
