Controversial sports scientist Stephen Dank shot in his Ascot Vale home
Stephen Dank, the sports scientist linked to doping with at Essendon and Cronulla, has sustained a minor head injury when shots were fired into his Melbourne home early Saturday.
Dank said he had been shaken by the incident but returned home after being released from hospital.
Dank says he’s thankful he’s ok and has an idea why shots were fired.
Nine News also reported that police suspect the shooter was on foot since there was no vehicle access near Dank’s address, and have taken CCTV footage from a neighbour.
Victoria Police confirmed serious crime response team detectives are investigating a “firearms incident” which occurred in Ascot Vale in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Emergency services were called to a Gillespie Avenue home after receiving reports that a man had been injured in a shooting at 2.20am.
“The man was conveyed to hospital and a crime scene has been established”.
No arrests have been made.
Both the Australian Football League (AFL), which runs the professional side of the indigenous code, and National Rugby League (NRL) have since banned him for life from working with teams in their leagues.
