Cops search grown son’s home in case of missing, indebted Connecticut couple
Detectives searched a Putnam landfill Friday as part of the ongoing investigation into the missing Easton couple, according to NBC Connecticut.
Police sources say Kyle Navin is a person of interest in the couple’s disappearance, and that just days after Easton police questioned Kyle Navin about his parents, he packed up his vehicle and took off. The couple, who moved to Easton, have been missing since August 4, after their auto was found off of exit 42 in Westport.
State Police Detectives stated that Wheelabrator Technologies have been cooperative with the search.
State Police were also in Easton Thursday, combing fields at the end of Sunset Road, which abuts a farm. Kyle Navin is the operations manager, according the sanitation firm’s website. Investigators with the State Police Major Crimes division spent hours going in and out of his Aldine Street home in Bridgeport on Wednesday.
Investigators said they continue to “conduct searches, gather evidence, and follow leads to determine the whereabouts of the Navins”. Kyle Navin said he had a broken back and declined. He told police that he believed Jeffery and Jeanette Navin had gone out to dinner after visiting with him August 4.
A neighbor told the Connecticut Post that he hadn’t seen the 27-year-old Navin in almost a week. Relatives issued a statement denying the couple’s disappearance is related to the debt.
On Friday, State Police said they searched a landfill where ash from incinerated garage is dumped for the possible remains of an Easton couple now missing for two weeks.
The Hartford Courant has reported that the couple sold the Weston home, which they had owned since 1994, in May for $900,000.
Jeffrey Navin serves as president of the J&J Refuse waste management company in Westport, while Jeanette works as a school library aide in Weston. All calls will be kept confidential, Grant said.
