Corn Maze opens tonight
Anyone who has seen pumpkin carving contests on TV can attest to the fantastic images these professionals can coax out of the skin of a pumpkin with some talent and the right tools. Pumpkins of all sizes and gourds from the Navajo Reservation near Farmington, New Mexico, are available at the annual Pumpkin Patch.
In an effort to support the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, visitors can get one dollar off the cost of admission into the corn maze with the donation of a non-perishable food item. “It’s just not fall without a pumpkin”. The farm is open weekends throughout September and October.
Both Bengtson’s Pumpkin Farm in Homer Glen and Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm in Crest Hill are kicking off their festivals Saturday, continuing family traditions that span decades.

Illinois is one of the largest producers of pumpkin in the United States with 90 to 95 percent of its crop being used for processed pumpkin foods. “They can use a sluice under water to mine for gems or arrowheads”. Open Saturdays and Sundays 1 p.m. until dusk until Halloween, entry fee to the farm is $3. Main events include picking the flawless pumpkin, train rides, pumpkin ring toss, hayride and more.
Our pumpkins come from The Navajo Nation near Farmington, N.M. The Pumpkin Patch Fundraisers Inc. has been employing Native Americans on the Reservation for more than 20 years. The corn mazes will feature games to go along with them.
Both pumpkin fests will be open every day from Saturday to November. 1.
If you have pumpkin fever, no worries, pumpkins were delivered by the truckload to a popular local pumpkin patch on Wednesday. There was a lot more bunnies also (since) they all survived the winter.
