Corning Chief Strategy Officer Jeffrey Evenson said in prepared remarks Monday that the move “encourages efficiencies and clean power usage that eventually lower costs”. “As part of our solar expansion efforts in North Carolina, we will continue to seize opportunities to both develop as well as purchase projects that enable us to deliver more renewable energy to our customers”, said Rob Caldwell, senior vice president, Distributed Energy Resources. “We believe this decision fits our corporate mission to be a good steward of the environment”. “It is a strong indication that long-term renewable energy contracts are becoming increasingly relevant to all Fortune 500 companies and will soon become the standard way of running business”.

Corning’s presence in North Carolina includes more than 3,000 employees across five locations, the company said.
