Coronation Street stars express delight after error-free live show
The ITV soap has been preparing for an hour long live episode to celebrate the shows 60th anniversary.
I thought I was in trouble!
Head of Production, Robbie Sandison, said: “For a live episode there is about 550 people working”.
ITV will be broadcasting a live Coronation Street episode tomorrow (23 September) but with an added twist, interactivity is expected to be at an unprecedented level.
Sarah Lou Platt’s ill-advised attempts to dupe Callum (Sean Ward) into confessing his many crimes, while she secretly recorded their conversation, backfired spectacularly when wannabe-Columbo, Sarah, (Tina O’Brien) forgot to put her phone on silent and Callum rumbled her plans. A claim which will undoubtedly be tested during the live episode. “So the auto will be driven by a professional driver but will be followed by a secondary vehicle in case the first one breaks down”.
At 10pm on ITV2, Stephen Mulhern will lead Coronation Street Live: Uncovered, featuring interviews with the cast immediately after the broadcast, and the actors answering questions posed on Twitter. Special mention to fab writer Debbie Oates and director John Anderson.
The Beales don’t even know the age of their own son! We’ve got a lot of scenes that are outside and no cover, we’ve got a auto arriving with its roof down. Completely brilliant Corrie Live.
Yup, in one scene with Craig and Tim, the sound cut out, leaving many viewers reaching for their television remotes.
Producers have struggled to track down Twitter user Adam, who won a competition to write a message on a blackboard at the Rovers’ Return usually reserved for pub specials.
It comes after the announcement that Coronation Street’s current producer, Stuart Blackburn, will leave the role to work on other drama projects within ITV.
Now Callum is dead, and hidden beneath the cobbles under a manhole by David Platt, actor Sean says he is relieved that Corrie bosses didn’t try to make his character mend his ways. David is quite good at these things and trying to find his way out of it. I’m sort of left as, ‘What do I do now?’ I’m hanging!
