Coroner: No evidence B.B. King was poisoned
An autopsy has found that B.B.
A post-mortem examination of BB King has found no evidence that the blues star was poisoned before he died of natural causes in May.
As it turns out, the “natural causes” from which King died were an unfortunate combination of Alzheimer’s disease, coronary disease, heart failure and type 2 diabetes. King Estate Lawyer Calls Poisoning Allegations “Baseless & Unfounded”.
As previously reported, some of King’s children have made various allegations against the musician’s former business manager and personal assistant, LaVerne Toney and Myron Johnson respectively.
King, known for his hits Lucille, Sweet Black Angel and Rock Me Baby, died in his sleep in Las Vegas in May, aged 89. He was 89 years old.
The autopsy was performed on May 24, ten days after King died.
Las Vegas police did not pursue the case, saying it was waiting for the coroner’s report before seeing if an investigation was warranted.
The coroner’s ruling closes the investigation into King’s death and, hopefully, brings some closure for the guitarist’s daughters. B.B. King was born on 16 September 1925 to sharecroppers and worked in the cotton fields as a child before picking up the guitar.
The motive for the allegations seems to have been (of course) money, an earlier CNN story noted, quoting Bryson as saying the women were “chasing a check” and that the charges were “absolutely ridiculous”.

Mr Bryson told a probate judge in Las Vegas last month that Dr Brimhall and two other doctors determined that King received appropriate medical and hospice care, and that Ms Toney was fulfilling his will and wishes.
