Corpus Christi fifth fastest growing city in nation
With the economy steadily rebounding from the Great Recession, WalletHub conducted an in-depth analysis of the fastest growing cities in the country, and Charlotte came in at No. 6 in the report for large cities.
WalletHub compared the 150 most populated cities using 21 metrics that ranged from the number of doctors per capita to the rate of employed people with disabilities to park accessibility. In the worst performance, the city placed 171st in poverty-rate decrease at 7.31 percent and 136th in job growth at 1.61 percent.
The survey ranked cities, not metropolitan areas.
Amarillo ranked as the best in Texas and 12th nationwide.
“The key is mid-wage job growth and the attraction of families, who are the ballast for cities”, Joel Kotkin, who holds the R. Hobbs Professorship in Urban Studies at Chapman University, told WalletHub. In the large city category, Cleveland and Detroit are the bottom two for growth, ranking 63rd and 64th, respectively.
Frisco finished in the top five in the categories for the most growth, the highest population growth and highest job growth.
