Cortana beta app for Android makes unscheduled public bow
Even though the full version of Cortana is only available in a few countries, it’s one of the main strong points of Windows Phone operating system.
And if you don’t feel like waiting for Microsoft to officially release the Android version you can take a leaked copy for a spin right now.
Back in March, we reported that Cortana, Microsoft’s Google Now and Siri competitor, would be coming to Android and iOS.
Microsoft’s Cortana software is a digital personal assistant that can respond to voice or text commands or questions.
The interesting thing about Cortana is that it has built in location reminders, so she will attempt to you when and where is most likely to inspire action.
Microsoft announced earlier this year that it will be bringing Windows Phone’s digital voice assistant, Cortana to the desktop as well as rival mobile platforms.
In other news, Microsoft’s awesome Hyperlapse video app for Android is exiting beta and is now open to all via the Play Store. She knew what I’d previously asked, and used that to determine that I still wanted to discover weather-related information. You can also have it track your flights, check the weather, tell you news, and display showtimes for movies at nearby theaters. It’s unclear how old this leaked version is – it could be months old, already – but Microsoft is certainly make good progress.
It looks like Microsoft has begun testing – whether intentionally or inadvertently – its coming Cortana app for Android.
