Cortana for Android enters public beta – here’s how to get it
“The Cortana app can do most of the things Cortana does on your PC or on a Windows phone”, said Microsoft in a blog post. However, users can make the Cortana of Android by replacing the Google Now shortcut with Cortana when you long press on the home key button.
As for support for the Indian accent, well, Microsoft has announced that Cortana will be getting that as an alpha feature soon.
Cortana for Android is out of closed beta, and is now letting all Android users test it out.
Cortana and the Edge net browser command probably the most “point out quantity”, intently adopted by the brand new Start menu. Regardless of which OS you use on your computer, though, you can give Cortana for Android a try right now by hitting up this link.
Microsoft has made a concerted effort to bring its apps and services to other mobile platforms in the face of low Windows Phone hardware sales.
But don’t count on much of an improvement over the Google Now talking assistant already on your device. For instance, you won’t be able to just say “Hey Cortana” for now and opening apps and toggling settings will take a while to be ported. Private Android beta of Cortana got leaked in June, giving Android users an early look at Microsoft’s digital assistant.
It’s important to note that the version on the Google Play Store is not the final version of the software but is instead a public beta. Microsoft hints that it’s trying to fix that on Android and iOS, so we’ll see how that goes. The company is continually working and improving on the application and will incorporate the feedback of its users along the way. Though Microsoft hasn’t ruled out this feature for Android, but has only claimed that it is missing because this is a beta build.
