Cosby admission may help legal suits

The powerful sedative Bill Cosby admits he gave a woman before sex is famously linked with the 1970s and 1980s party scenes.

Other Cosby-related projects ended late last fall when women came forward with allegations that Cosby had assaulted them.

The allegations against Cosby for sexual misconduct recently came to light after comedian, Hannibal Burress, called Cosby a rapist during a Philadelphia stand-up show last October.

The entertainer settled Constand’s lawsuit under confidential terms in 2006. The comedian has never been criminally charged and has vehemently denied the accusations.

She said in an interview with The Associated Press on Monday evening that “this confirms the allegations of numerous victims who have alleged that he had used drugs to sexually assault them”.

It was labeled the “pound cake” speech for this passage: “Looking at the incarcerated, these are not political criminals”, Cosby said. Cosby’s lawyers pushed back, saying they would be embarrassing for the star, but the court ruled to release the documents, claiming Cosby has voluntarily entered the public arena by preaching frequently about morality. He “I don’t think there is anything new here”.

New “View” host Raven Symone, who as a child starred with Cosby on “The Cosby Show“, was more cautious with her stance.

“I stood by a man I respected and loved”, Scott said via Twitter. I was wrong. It HURTS!!!

United States District Court Judge Eduardo Robreno rejected that argument in a memo on Monday, highlighting “the stark contrast between Bill Cosby, the public moralist and Bill Cosby, the subject of serious allegations concerning improper (and perhaps criminal) conduct.’ Robreno added that the public has ‘a significant interest” in the deposition.

She said she “woke up in bed, naked, bruised and battered” after taking “two sips” of a drink he had fixed her. “So after 10 long years, it really was quite fantastic to read my email today and it was like everything turned a 180 in a matter of a minute”. Cosby admitted in a 2005 deposition that he obtained Quaaludes with the intent of using them to have sex with young women. The deposition has never been filed in court or made public. Documents from a sworn court testimony have been unsealed at the request of the Associated Press, and have already been obtained by The Hollywood Reporter and DeadSpin.

But he avoided questions about who he gave drugs to and when, and whether he gave women drugs without their knowledge.

People who grew up in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s may remember Cosby for his television work, but the younger generation that consumes their information through social media could be the ones who ultimately decide his legacy.

Here in central Ohio, anti-sexual assault organizations say this is part of rape culture where the assumption is that women are lying, exaggerating or did something to cause the assault. Cosby said: “Ladies and gentlemen, in our cities and public schools we have 50 percent drop out”. “The problem with theories is, you can’t arrest on a theory”, he said, “you have to prove you’re theory is right – and we were unable to do that”.
