Cosby seeking defense lawyer for Pennsylvania criminal probe

It looks like he tried to use an attorney he has used in the past, but has been referred out to another high-profile defense lawyer in the Philadelphia area.

The Philadelphia Inquirer first reported that an Atlantic City attorney, Edwin Jacobs, was contacted by agents for the disgraced comedy legend. But Ferman says prosecutors should “review past conclusions… when current information might lead to a different decision”. Cosby seeks a defense lawyer to help him avoid any criminal charges or jail time associated with the Philadelphia case from 2005.

Comedian Bill Cosby has been accused of sexual assault by more than 50 women, a dozen which have spoken out in a new A&E special titled “Cosby: The Women Speak”.

In a statement to People, Constand’s lawyer said she would be willing to cooperate in the new investigation. Bill Cosby denies any wrongdoing, but has admitted under oath that he did use drugs to help the women sleep with him.

The accuser in the 2005 case, Andrea Constand, said that Cosby, who was on the board of trustees at Temple at the time, befriended and mentored her before drugging and sexually abusing her during a visit to his home in January 2004.

Pennsylvania has a 12 year statute of limitations when it comes to prosecuting sexual assault cases.

Similar time limits have bedeviled other potential cases.

“She’s a very strong lady”, Troiani told the AP. “She’ll do whatever she needs to do, whatever they ask of her”.

Cosby, who starred as Dr. Cliff Huxtable on “The Cosby Show” from 1984 to 1992, maintained that the sexual activities were consensual and that none of the women took quaaludes unknowingly.

Could Bill Cosby finally face criminal charges? Both are bound from discussing their allegations against Cosby by a confidentiality agreement they signed as part of a 2006 civil settlement with the comedian.

He remembers investigating the case as a misdemeanor, rather than a felony.

Troiani accused Castor of defaming Constand with his latest remarks.

“We demand that you retract your statement concerning Ms. Constand and issue the apology to her that is 10 years overdue”, Troiani wrote.
