Could Michael B. Jordan Play Boba Fett in Star Wars Spinoff?
Since Straight Outta Compton was a box office success for Universal, it makes sense that they’d want to work with the filmmaker again. One was the eighth Fast & Furious film, which he recently confirmed that he will be directing, and the other was a LucasFilm project, which Jeff believes was for either Indiana Jones 5 or the Boba Fett standalone movie that Fantastic Four director Josh Trank was once attached to. That leaves literally two possibilities.
‘I do think Boba Fett will be African-American, ‘ Sneider said, ‘and I remember hearing Michael B. Jordan rumours’. Or possibly a new Indiana Jones movie?
Where things get a little tricky is in the Star Wars canon – Maori / Scottish / Irish actor Temuera Morrison portrayed Jango Fett in the prequels, which established that Boba Fett was the only unaltered clone of his father, who served as the genetic blueprint for the Grand Army of the Republic.
Walt Disney Studios is making every effort to hire a non-white male director to helm the project to satisfy their new diversity mandate, Comic Book.com reported.
Boba Fett is one of the most polarized and beloved characters in the Star Wars franchise. This is the first we’ve heard of this potential casting, but producer Kathleen Kennedy revealed in May that the fan-favorite bounty hunty is a “high priority” at Lucasfilm.
The Boba Fett Fan Club Youtube channel uploaded all of the sound clips and it is new material that is being recorded.
Disney and Lucasfilm haven’t announced any concrete plans for the third spin-off film, but it likely won’t hit theaters until 2020. If Boba Fett is an unaltered clone of Jango, then he would have to be played by Temuera Morrison or an actor who looks very much like him.
