Could Tyler Breeze be John Cena’s opponent at Hell in a Cell?
Will: It’s amusing; I feel like Reigns has finally recovered from the Royal Rumble backlash, but I still don’t enjoy him all that much. I understand that they need to advertise their material; it just felt like a waste. As in, for three solid weeks, they repeated the same stuff over and over again to the point of making me wonder why I was even watching. Give me Rollins to win this match.
Here are our predictions for each match. In 2015 we seem to have come full circle and will see the pair end their current wars with exactly the same match. I had so much hope for multiple-personality Kane, but the lack of concerted effort toward nuance (that would have made Kane something truly different this time around) just sapped all that excitement away.
The Hell in a Cell match has been a WWE staple since 1997 with at least one having occurred every year since with the exception of 2001. Nikki Bella is the former champ who is here for her guaranteed rematch. He’s taking losses in non-title matches, and he’s acting cowardly. So I’m willing to sit through another match between the two. Charlotte should and will be the victor here, but the Divas division needs to become the “Women’s Division”. I don’t see why she shouldn’t be next in line.
This match might be the hardest to predict. On the one hand, The New Day is the best thing, not just in wrestling, but possibly on television right now.
Remember when Charlotte winning the Divas Championship was a big deal and we all thought it could be a new, better chapter to the Diva Revolution?
What do you do with six guys who have no storyline and dwindling momentum? He was clearly trying to pander to Komen crowd. Owens may not have the build that Ryback has, but he clearly makes up for it in charisma and wrestling ability. Even the stuff he did with the Lucha Dragons was fun to watch.
Derek: We’re coming to you live (five days later) from Dallas!
The build-up to this match has been brutal.
If the reports of The Undertaker working more dates in the fall are true, Vince McMahon may repay him for all he’s done for the WWE, including allowing The Streak to end, by giving him the final win in this series. Rollins incurred Kane’s wrath by further injuring him after he was attacked by Brock Lesnar a few months ago. Until then, you have Rollins constantly looking over his shoulder as Kane (mask and all) plays weird mind games.
Bad booking, bad story writing, if you ask me. Cena asked and received his contractual rematch for the title at Night of Champions, where he would soundly defeat the WWE WHC in the first of two matches Rollins competed in that night. While I do not expect that to happen again, I do expect them to have a strong match here.
This isn’t a matter of who’s going to win-that much is already foregone, since we all know Cena’s taking an extended vacation after this show until December-it’s a matter of who’s showing up to answer the call. The only question is, who does Cena pass the torch to? Would you want to listen to a podcast about wrestling? Looking over the roster, there’s nobody that jumps out as an obvious choice. I’ll be shocked if Reigns doesn’t win this one. However, there are three things the New Day can guarantee that will help them win on Sunday – Big E dancing provocatively, Kofi’s creepy clapping, and Woods playing the trombone. Stardust is a sentimental pick for yours truly.
The Dudley Boys are widely favored to win the WWE tag team titles. They were afraid of putting the challenger for the title on the go-home show.
Sheamus could be interested as well and he doesn’t have to lose the Money in the Bank briefcase to do it. So why not try to get the U.S. title and then go for the WWE Heavyweight champion when the timing is right? That’s a little bit sad.
Sheamus is in a no-win situation, trapped in a purgatory the company has brought on itself with bad planning, bad matches and really nowhere to put the Great White.
Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker Hell in a Cell match.
Brock took control with his power early on. In a way, that’s a shame.
Since his return last month, Kane has been occupying two characters – the red-masked Demon Kane and the besuited Corporate Kane – and treating them as separate people. But despite it’s drawbacks, the time and effort they’d put into it merited a big blow-off like this. Both the superstars are given great push, to be molded in to great superstars. But somewhere under all that scripted verbage is a real human being that I’d like to get to know. Ziggler is said to be doing a heel turn sometime soon.
As for this match, I’d love to see Bray go over.
