Couple suffers miscarriage after pregnancy announcement goes viral
A couple whose YouTube pregnancy announcement went viral earlier this month revealed some devastating news this weekend: Their pregnancy has ended in miscarriage.
The post, entitled “our baby had a heartbeat”, has over three million views on YouTube.
The couple frequently posts videos about their marriage and family.
In the video, Nia said: “We were just so overjoyed… it was like a huge celebration and then it just – bam – it just hit us like a bomb”.
Sam had snuck into the toilet to retrieve Nia’s urine pattern from the bathroom to check it earlier than she had an opportunity to check it herself.
After Sam finally convinces Nia is pregnant, the little family celebrates with palpable joy.
“Those of you who have experienced miscarriage before, I can relate now”, Nia said while stifling tears.
But thanks to their success – which includes more than 62,000 likes on Facebook and more than 318,000 YouTube subscribers – Sam also announced that he was able to quit his job.
The couple said they hoped that sharing Nia’s miscarriage would allow others to feel comfortable speaking about their experiences. And I am mourning with those who are feeling this.”I just hope that this video continues to be a way for God to shine his light to the world through us”.
“I felt my womb empty out”, Nia says. “I never, ever, ever knew that women felt that way”. There is a stigma regarding miscarriage that says we need to be alone in it and keep it private, but what happened is nothing less than losing a baby.
“I just want to say too maybe there’s someone out there that’s going through this with us”, she continued. It’s something that needs to be talked about and something that requires support from friends and family.
