Court Sacks Former Senate President, David Mark
Immediate past Senate President, David Mark, Sunday denied laying the blame for the Appeal Court judgment that nullified his election as the senator representing Benue South District at the doorstep of the Benue State Government.
Yaro punctured this claim in an interactive session with journalists yesterday in Makurdi, the State Capital saying those who were alleging lopsidedness in the appointment by Governor Ortom are being economical with the truth.
The panel of jurists also questioned the failure of the trial court to admit evidences tendered by the appellant to canvass his case and in another instance refer to the same evidence to arrive at its decision.
Ige ruled that, “Notwithstanding the resolution of issue five in favour of the respondent, the appellant appeal succeeds”.
Metu said the former Senate president is expected to repeat his victory in a re-run ordered by the court of appeal.
Reacting to the Tribunal verdict, Mark told his followers not to be deterred by the verdict, but be strengthened ahead of the re-run.
In a reaction he said if the elections were to be conducted “100 times”, he would win.
In a statement by his Media Assistant, Paul Mumeh, former Senate President Mark said he believed that he won the election convincingly, adding that he has no doubt that his constituents would turn out en masses to vote for him again.

Justice Ige thus held that, “the lower tribunal can not be seen to blow hot and cold at the same time”.
“If for whatever reason, the justices of Appeal Tribunal found merit in awarding victory to a man who neither participated nor contested the election in the real sense of the word, we hail their ingenuity”.
