Cousins has 33 points, 19 boards, Kings top Thunder 116-104
The Kings visited Oklahoma City and beat the Thunder pretty handily Monday night, which put DeMarcus Cousins in a great mood.
Kiwi NBA star Adams scored 15 points for OKC against the Sacramento Kings today. Durant sat out Monday’s 116-104 loss to Sacramento with a sprained right big toe, an injury he suffered in the previous game against Charlotte. His status is day-to-day, but head coach Billy Donovan said before the game that he didn’t consider it serious. Forward Anthony Morrow added 20 points while guard Russell Westbrook compiled 17 points and 15 assists. The Kings had a season high for points and shot 61.6 percent in snapping a three-game skid. But Gay scored on a fast break layup and was fouled. Sacramento picked up their first ever win at Chesapeake Energy Arena by doing what Oklahoma City does best – score.
Minus Durant, Russell Westbrook took more of the load. Westbrook walked away with both the one-on-one win, but also a 98-95 victory for his team. Rookie C Willie Cauley-Stein made his return to Kings lineup after missing the past month with a severe finger dislocation. Westbrook had seven assists in the first quarter, the second-most he’s had in a quarter this season. They’re only the third pair of teammates in National Basketball Association history to share Player of the Month honors. His 11 assists in the first half were the second-most he’s had in a half in his career.
The Thunder’s next game is Thursday NZ time when they host the Grizzlies.
