Cousins leads Redskins past Giants

Brock Osweiler has taken over for an injured Peyton Manning as the Broncos quarterback and despite his inexperience, he is an improvement over the ineffective and mistake prone player that Manning has been this season.

The Giants suffered a miserable first half that saw them fail to trouble the scorers, manage just 117 yards on offense and lose offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz to a broken leg, with Eli Manning setting the tone early on by throwing interceptions on his first two possessions.

A touchdown to Rueben Randle on fourth down and Odell Beckham Jr.’s incredible diving grab made his numbers look a bit better, but Manning let his team down on the road on Sunday.

Washington now has a tiebreaker lead on first place, and a relatively manageable schedule, but everyone knows that means nothing in this year’s NFC East by now.

Cousins was 20 for 29 for 302 yards, including the long TD to Jackson – who taunted the Giants by strutting along the goal line before actually crossing it.

It was the 20th three-interception game of Manning’s career.

You can question the decision to kick the ball deep rather than try for the onside kick with 4:50 remaining, but with three timeouts that was the right call. The re-addition of these three, impact linemen should help the Giants both defensively and offensively, which can only improve their chances against the Redskins. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo still can’t find a way to pressure the other team’s quarterback, though his roster is bereft of talent.
