‘Coutinho to Barcelona? We already have a lot of playmakers’ – Catalan chief
Barcelona football director Robert Fernandez has refused to rule out a January move for Philipe Coutinho after admitting the Liverpool star is “a good player with very good conditions”.
Coutinho’s compatriot and friend Neymar is one of the Catalan club’s star men, and he has openly said he would welcome the arrival of Liverpool’s 23-year-old (via SPORT).
Nonetheless if Coutinho does voice any reason to leave Merseyside then Barcelona are sure to make their interest concrete.
Former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has emerged as the favourite to fill the role, with suggestions that a deal is already being discussed.
An impressive campaign last term saw Coutinho named in the Premier League Team of the Season – the only Reds player to be selected in the team as Liverpool failed domestically, finishing sixth under Rodgers.
He told Spanish radio network Cadena Ser: “Coutinho is a great player, with a great condition, but we have a lot of playmakers”.
Barcelona would most likely be looking to seal the deal for Coutinho in January when the transfer embargo is lifted.
David Luiz, who shares a representative with Liverpool’s number 10 has admitted that Barca were tracking Coutinho and agrees it would a good move for the 23 year old.
