Cowboys at Bucs: How to Watch, Predictions, and More
QB Jameis Winston: While much of the focus in Philadelphia was placed on the possibility of getting Marcus Mariota in the NFL Draft, Winston was in the mix as well. David still leads the team in tackles but hasn’t had any splash plays. In five of these seven games (two went to overtime) they’ve had leads or been tied in the fourth quarter, and they’ve lost them all in different ways. Tampa Bay is hoping for a similar result as last week when they beat the Cowboys 10-6. Neither team even got into field goal range in the third quarter. Cole Beasley was targeted only once, but caught it. Cassel was completing passes at a high success rate to these guys, but just couldn’t get them more involved. Both are accustomed to putting up 100+ yards per game and it will be fun to watch them compete against one another.
Buccaneers running back Charles Sims caught a pass for 6 yards on the next play, ran for 5 more, and Winston, who finished 22 of 39 for 264 yards, did the rest. But he missed from 48 yards to end that streak…
The Bucs got a 1-yard bootleg touchdown run by quarterback Jameis Winston with 54 seconds remaining to defeat the Cowboys 10-6 at Raymond James Stadium, making up for a day filled with missed opportunities by the Bucs’ offense.
Eventually, the Buccaneers would face a third and goal form the 4-yard line. Two defenders converged on Winston as he approached the goal line and he chose to jump over them. Dez complained about a push off and there looked like there was a push to some degree, but it was still surprising that Dez didn’t at least make an effort to go up and get the pass. Dallas needs their veteran quarterback if they’re to emerge from the cellar of the NFC East in today’s Cowboys game, while the Bucs are still growing with their rookie quarterback. However, the most damaging penalty came when Jeff Heath was called for defensive holding on a 3rd and 4 play late in the game. The Cowboys messed up some winnable games (lost five of the seven by 7 points or less) and this season had the chance to turn out differently; leaving Romo less ground to make up. Sometimes things just don’t happen for whatever reason, but you keeping coming, keep working hard and eventually you will. That will be the case with him. “We’re going to keep on going”. Let’s see that play one more time.
“When we have good play in the secondary, it allows you to do everything you’d like to do”. Jameis Winston saw his streak of 134 passes without an interception broken when he threw two picks Sunday. But Winston threw behind Adam Humphries, who deflected it to Heath. “I know the standard that I have for myself”, Bryant said. “Winning is in his blood”.
“I think we just have to look at how we deal with these losses”, Jones said. “To see a quarterback giving everything he has, it motivates you to just give a little more”.
Quarterback Matt Cassel had his best game as a Cowboy against Philadelphia.
They end up scoring the winning touchdown. “From my point of view, it’s not good, because I wasn’t able to finish the game”. On Sunday, that changed. Seven games later – all losses – the Cowboys’ season is all but over, or so it would seem.
