Cowboys beat Redskins to extend winning streak to 10
An official signals touchdown as Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott (4) runs the ball into the end zone during the second half of the team’s NFL football game against the Washington Redskins on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, in Arlington, Texas.
Quarterback Dak Prescott completed 17 passes for 195 yards, ran for one touchdown and tossed a scoring strike to Terrence Williams as the Dallas Cowboys ran off with a 31-26 win over the Washington Redskins on Thursday before 93,099 at AT&T Stadium. At the crucial time, Zeke would be a decoy, allowing Prescott to complete a screen play to Cole Beasley that gained a first down, forcing Washington to burn its last time out and leading to the most attractive of all sights for Cowboys fans, the Landry shift in the victory formation.
Like the fact that it looks like the Dallas Cowboys are going to roll to the NFC East title or not, the results of the two Thanksgiving Day games offered, in my view, the best-case scenario for the Giants.
The NFL-leading Cowboys (10-1) haven’t lost since their 20-19 setback to the New York Giants in the opener, when Prescott and rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott made their NFL debuts.
Slay sealed the first victory during the successful stretch with an interception late in the game on October 9 against Philadelphia. The Cowboys opened the game with a seven-play, 75-yard drive capped off by an Ezekiel Elliott touchdown run.
“Guys are exhausted, guys are beat us”.
“We’re striving for perfection”, veteran cornerback Orlando Scandrick said. “We didn’t make enough plays”.
Tight end Jordan Reed paced all Redskins receivers with 10 catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns. Ben Roethlisberger threw touchdown passes of 25, 33 and 22 yards, all to Antonio Brown, while Le’Veon Bell ran for 120 yards and a score. “It feels great”, said Elliott, who broke Tony Dorsett’s Cowboys rookie rushing record of 1,007 yards last week against the Baltimore Ravens.
“I just let the game come to me”.
“We’ve been in third place for a while, so we have to understand where we are what it’s going to take to get an opportunity to come back here in the future”, Washington coach Jay Gruden said. “They were matching some routes and doing a good job of that”. “There’s just not one reason, I think it’s several things happening that we’ll have to spend time in the film room looking at”. Dallas recovered and needed to go just 53 yards before finding paydirt. Washington had 505 yards of total offense.
Hopkins then missed a 43-yard field goal before Washington was able to stabilize itself. The offensive game plan was aggressive and they threw deep, early and often.
Hopkins turned his foot outward on the kickoff, like a soccer player making a pass, and nudged the ball off the tee. “He handled different situations really, really well”.
Bryant countered by saying: “Washington needs to get their money back from Josh Norman”.
FOX Sports says that the game drew 35.1 million average viewers, and was the most-watched regular season National Football League game that the network has broadcast. They had to be separated after the game.
The Redskins (6-4-1) got a solid performance from star quarterback Kirk Cousins, but couldn’t get past the Cowboys’s defense. The Cowboys entered the game on a nine-game winning streak while the Redskins had won six of their last eight. Reed left the game in the first half after suffering an AC joint separation in his left shoulder. “He can’t watch, he wants to play”.
