Cowboys’ Carr breaks hand, Bryant out with hamstring strain
Carr practiced Saturday with his hand heavily bandaged however is scheduled to have surgery in Dallas on Monday.
“This is not my first go-round”, Carr said. This injury should not keep Carr out for the regular season opener against the New York Giants. Patmon has been buried in the depth chart but has been outstanding in camp and Claiborne is coming off a torn patellar injury that ended his season past year.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant is being held out of practice with a hamstring strain.
“That’s just me talking”, he said. The Cowboys waived him with an injury settlement.
Orlando Scandrick, the other starting cornerback alongside Carr, had missed a couple of days with a sore knee.
“We do anticipate him being again sooner quite than later”, Garrett stated.
“I’m not going to even speculate on when that is”.
There had been some hope that McFadden could return to practice as early as Saturday, but Garrett said the team isn’t willing to rush him back.
Since signing with the Cowboys, Carr has continued to be one of the most durable defenders in the NFL, starting 48 more consecutive contests in Dallas to bring his consecutive start streak to 112 games.
“I guess we kicked their butt yesterday so they came out here trying to be tough guys today”, Baker said, “but it really didn’t work”. Pittsburgh Steelers stars Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown also get the night off while the coaching staffs take a long look at the reserves.
Bryant did not practice Saturday because of a hamstring injury he suffered when running a route in practice Thursday, not because he dunked the ball over the goal post.
With Bryant unlikely to play and Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley figuring to get limited snaps against San Diego because of their growing value, undrafted rookie free agent Lucky Whitehead will get a chance to follow up on a strong start to camp.
