Cowboys’ DE Randy Gregory could face longer suspension
A source confirms that Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory has violated the NFL’s substance abuse policy again and is facing a longer suspension that his current four-game penalty. However, Gregory appears to be on the road to recovery as ESPN’s Ed Werder is reporting that the second-year pass rusher has checked himself into a treatment facility. Hardy was sidelined to start last season because of his role in a domestic violence case that kept him out of all but one game in 2014. Gregory reportedly was also fined for two other failed drug tests since joining the Cowboys.
“Yeah, I’m not going to comment on Randy Gregory”, Garrett concluded.
NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport adds that there are legitimate concerns whether or not Gregory will ever play a snap in the NFL again.
The Cowboys will be slim at defensive end without Gregory.
Gregory was first suspended this offseason back in February, when he failed a drug test for the fourth time in his short career. The suspension came after Gregory’s second violation, with the first being when he was caught smoking marijuana at the NFL Combine before the 2015 NFL Draft. As a rookie, the Nebraska product struggled with an ankle injury and made just 11 tackles in 12 games.
Middle linebacker Rolando McClain is serving a 10-game suspension to open the season.
