Cowboys hang on for 11th straight victory
On Thursday Night Football, the Minnesota Vikings appeared to have everything going their way as they took on the Dallas Cowboys, and it looked like they had a real chance to pull off the upset. That’s what the Dallas Cowboys have endured in the past two-and-a-half weeks.
If critics are concerned about Cowboys’ ability to win big games on the road, they answered those questions Thursday. Balance is likely the key and they tried to get there against a team that entered U.S. Bank Stadium with the 31st-ranked pass defense.
This was easily the worst performance by the Dallas Cowboys offense this season.
The Minnesota Vikings were up to the task of playing on without their beloved boss, another sudden blow to a team that has endured so many setbacks. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott didn’t get this memo. The Cowboys’ first series went for just four plays for 14 yards and Minnesota reciprocated with a punt of its own.
Here are three stats that stood out about the game with teams that were never more than one score apart. Whitehead was hit from behind by Griffen, and Eric Kendricks scooped up the fumble.
On Nov. 20, they beat the Baltimore Ravens 27-17, dominating the time of possession and Dez Bryant grabbing two touchdown passes.
The Vikings held Dak Prescott to 139 yards, and for the most part bottled up rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott.
While Sam Bradford passed for 247 yards and Minnesota’s only touchdown, the entire Vikings team only rushed for 87 yards, led by Jerick McKinnon, who had 41 rushing yards and Minnesota’s lone receiving touchdown.
What were your thoughts on the Cowboys’ 11th win of the season? It can’t work. And just because it happened at the end of the game shouldn’t change that.
The Vikings settled for a field goal, cutting the Cowboys’ lead to 7-6.
The injury is believed to have occurred during a loss to the Seahawks on November 13, in which Gronkowski said he received “probably one of the hardest I’ve got hit in my career” from safety Earl Thomas. They knocked Bradford out for a short time in the second quarter when Minnesota was trying to drive the field. He had just led the Vikings on a thrilling eight-play, 65-yard drive that started with a little over two minutes left in regulation. At the very least, there should have been a penalty on the Cowboys, giving the Vikings another shot at the two-point conversion. Thielen fumbled as he was being taken to the ground and looked to get his hands on the football again. Kyle Wilber recovered the ball and the officials ruled it a fumble during instant replay. “It would have been nice to go out there and win this one for him”.
“I think the way we won all three of them, they were different games and that’s hard to do”, tight end Jason Witten said.
I thought it was a great win for the Cowboys.
The fuel for this dazzling season for the Dallas Cowboys can be found up front, with an offensive line that’s helped make this team a handful to try to stop. Sherels, who averages 13.4 yards per return, has missed four of the past six games with injuries. NY is the only team that beat Dallas this year and a win there could open up the NFC East.
