Cowboys hold on against Vikings for 11th straight win
Brian Robison also made a big play with a strip-sack in the first half. The Vikings were unfairly handed a loss when they should have had more opportunity to win.
There was nothing aesthetically pleasing about the Cowboys vaunted offense on Thursday Night Football.
After that game, Bradford said the Vikings needed more “explosive plays”.
Dak Prescott struggled badly in this game. Quarterback Dak Prescott didn’t make many rookie mistakes, but he didn’t manage to throw for more than 150 yards for the first time in his young career. Whether it was the no-call during the Vikings 2 point conversion attempt, missed holding penalties, or razor-thin plays getting overturned, Minnesota had to feel like the odds were stacked against them. Dallas went two games without a turnover before Lucky Whitehead’s fumble in the second quarter. Speaking of Elliott, he also fumbled the ball once, but recovered it himself.
On Nov. 20, they beat the Baltimore Ravens 27-17, dominating the time of possession and Dez Bryant grabbing two touchdown passes.
While Sam Bradford passed for 247 yards and Minnesota’s only touchdown, the entire Vikings team only rushed for 87 yards, led by Jerick McKinnon, who had 41 rushing yards and Minnesota’s lone receiving touchdown.
The Vikings are right to complain, and they did get a bum deal on this call … but that doesn’t mean the call should have been reviewed, and it doesn’t mean that the Vikings deserved to win the game. It can’t work. And just because it happened at the end of the game shouldn’t change that.
How much longer can the NFL push back at the idea of allowing plays like this – specifically, called or uncalled penalties at critical junctures of the game – to be subject to replay review, allowing officials and the league office to get it right based on the same video 66,860 fans in the stadium and millions more at home get to see nearly instantly? They knocked Bradford out for a short time in the second quarter when Minnesota was trying to drive the field.
Minnesota held the Cowboys to season lows in points, yards and first downs. It didn’t decide the game, but cost the Vikings a second chance to tie it. “I think after we met, I expressed to him specifically that potentially going blind in one eye is not worth one game in the National Football League”.
Dallas slowly started to control the game with its ball-control offense. Their last four losses have all been by six points or less, with one coming in overtime and another on the final play of regulation.
One year later, former Vikings punter Chris Kluwe posted a scathing essay on Deadspin.com accusing Priefer of making anti-gay comments toward Kluwe while he was still on the team as a way of goading him for his gay rights advocacy.
Dallas secured the ensuing onside kick.
Garrett chose to challenge the ruling and it was overturned.
Spielman would not say whether there is potential for Zimmer to miss multiple games. This consecutive victory came after it lost during the regular season opener to the New York Giants. “They’re managing a game and officiating the game at full speed”.
That 5-0 start was a miracle, for sure, given what we’ve seen since, but it built confidence in a team and fan base hungry to win, especially in its new $1.1 billion stadium, the world’s largest loudspeaker.
