Cowboys LB Rolando McClain Has Reportedly Gained 40 Pounds From Purple Drank
Cole was told by a source that McClain has gained about 40 pounds and is “incredibly out of shape”.
Also impacting McClain’s ability to play is the fact that he has reportedly put on a ton of weight this offseason due to purple drank, which for the unaware is a mixture of Sprite and codeine.
McClain was placed on the reserve/did not report list to open camp.
With Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain suspended 10 games to start the season and absent from the team, a new report explains that his problems arise not from marijuana but from a supposed codeine addiction.
The Cowboys have already hinted that they are preparing to move along from erstwhile star linebacker Rolando McClain … and now we may have more specifics about why he is willing to move on, too.
The Cowboys expected McClain, who did not attend OTAs earlier this offseason, on the team flight to California for training camp, but he did not show, according to ESPN. “We just don’t know”.
The league administers the substance abuse program, so it remains unclear if the NFL’s medical director has required McClain to enter a facility as part of his treatment program.
McClain subjected to be fined $40,000 a day for missing training camp, per the National Football League collective bargaining agreement. Team owner Jerry Jones said he was “disappointed” with McClain but wouldn’t go as far as to say he would release the linebacker.
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett declined comment when asked about McClain on Tuesday. Apparently, Morris was the man who got the nod when all was said and done. McClain, who missed the first four games last season because of a suspension, is in Stage 3 of the substance abuse program. A year ago he managed to play in six games for the Giants.
