Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expects Randy Gregory to play next week
This set up a 2-yard touchdown run by Ezekiel Elliott to give the Cowboys a 10-3 lead.
While it served to increase the spotlight on Dallas’s quarterback situation, it also highlights Jerry Jones’ inability to balance being both the general manager and owner of the world’s most valuable sports franchise.
Sunday night’s “flexed” Dallas Cowboys-Tampa Bay Buccaneers game resulted in a 33% ratings spike from last season’s Week 15 contest on NBC, although CBS scored the highest National Football League ratings on the day. They are figuring out what their players can do and how to put them in a position to win.
Instead of being just one game up on the team that swept them in the regular season, the Cowboys (12-2) are a win or a NY loss or tie from their second division title in three years and their first No. 1 seed since 2007, when Romo led them to a 13-3 record. And a donation is coming.
“If we had known he was going to be the Dak Prescott I know today, we would have drafted him a lot higher”, Jones said.
Elliott was also one of the stars of the game (as usual).
Dak Prescott fires a pass against the Buccaneers. But now that football is on a bit of a bounce back, those advertising costs likely won’t be going down anytime soon. Anything less, however, and things get dicey at best. He drew a 15-yard penalty. With the Giants holding the tiebreaker, a loss tonight would leave them with no margin for error the rest of the way.
Jones, the owner, knows what makes good box-office fare and has stirred the pot with his comments all season. “We just got to keep winning games”.
Boy, I never thought I’d live to see the day when a Dallas Cowboy threw bandwagon fans under the bus. “If I feel that then I know all my teammates on the offense, defense, and kicking team feel that”. However, if you’re the Cowboys, why would you even consider doing that?
PRESCOTT’S RECOVERY: After his worst game as a pro in a 10-7 loss to the Giants, which generated more talk about former starter and current backup Tony Romo, Prescott went 32 of 36 for 279 yards.
The defensive backs were no match for the short passing of Dak Prescott.
With the scores level at 20-20, Tampa were in the ascendancy, but when Dallas safety Jeff Heath made an interception on Jameis Winston, all of the momentum left the Buccaneers.
After Winston threw touchdown passes to Adam Humphries and Cameron Brate in the third quarter, Tampa Bay had only one first down on their five possessions in the fourth quarter.
The Redskins could even clinch a playoff spot with wins in their next two games and another loss by Tampa Bay on Sunday at New Orleans as well as a Green Bay loss vs. Minnesota. You know what I think is about to happen?
