Cowboys QB Romo has small fracture in back

According to a report from ESPN, the National Football League appears “disinclined” to get itself involved in the issue, as Jones’ comments may have been punishment enough for Elliott. Dak Prescott could be seeing action a lot sooner than anybody associated with the Cowboys would have wanted.

The Cowboys have not determined a timetable for his return. Prescott, like he’s done all preseason, looked rather impressive in the 27-17 loss, but the focus was on what the results of the MRI on Romo’s back will show. Dallas went 1-11 without him. Obviously it wasn’t with news Romo has yet another serious injury on his surgically-repaired back.

If Romo does miss a regular season game this will be the fourth straight year that he has missed at least one game.

Garrett said Romo’s injury won’t end his season.

The injury came on the third snap of the game against the Seahawks.

The Cowboys do have reasons to be hopeful Romo can play quicker than many anticipate.

“Still trying to take it in a little bit”, Frederick said.

After being tended to by training staff, Romo stood on the sidelines and watched the remainder of the game. In three preseason games, Prescott has completed 39 of 50 passes – an astounding 78 percent – for 454 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions.

The Cowboys open the season against the Giants. The coach would not say if it is the transverse process fractures Romo suffered in 2014 that forced him to miss a game.
