Cowboys top Washington for 10th straight win
I thought that the Dallas Cowboys would struggle a little bit more with the Washington Redskins, especially with their explosive offense. Their coach squandered precious seconds on the clock.
It’s obvious Dak Prescott has earned the respect of his Dallas Cowboys teammates.
Despite picking up a 10th straight win Thursday against the Washington Redskins, the Dallas Cowboys did not force a turnover for the third straight game.
It was a one-step-forward, two-steps-back tussle the Redskins could never win.
Maybe it was because the team had to prepare on a short week, and then travel across the country, while the Cowboys were at home last week. The Giants (7-3) are in the lead, followed by, for now, the Redskins (6-4-1).
The Cowboy win their 10th straight, and improve to 10-1 on the year. Dallas also drew big numbers against the Steelers (28.9 million) earlier this month, against the Green Bay Packers (28.0 million) in October, and against the New York Giants (27.5 million) in September’s season opener. “We-want-Dall-as!”
Zeke quoted the NFL’s tweet of the GIF of Baker doing Elliott’s dance, and the Cowboys running back obviously wasn’t too happy about it. Though it is the most balanced team in National Football League, its defense has some critical issues that need to address. They play another Thursday game next week at Minnesota, meaning their extended break will instead come before the November 11 rematch against the Giants in New Jersey.
I honestly think that the good each week for the Dallas Cowboys could involve Ezekiel Elliott or Dak Prescott in some way.
The Redskins didn’t get much help from the natural elements, though. Washington stuck deep on a 67 yard touchdown pass, which was the vulnerability for the Cowboys that was the most worrying. A series of misadventures followed. That was mostly on Washington, as they repeatedly failed to get into the end zone in the first half, and then were only able to hit on half the field goals they attempted.
Hopkins connected later on field goals of 24 and 20 yards in the second quarter.
Jerry Jones is feasting now and will later with Prescott.
Dallas wide receiver Dez Bryant was targeted seven times Thursday, but caught just five passes for 72 yards against Washington cornerback Josh Norman.
-In the first half, Gruden opted to kick a 55-yard field goal into the sun. Sean Lee is the only defensive player who is effective and the defensive rotation of Dallas Cowboys is a major concern with most of their defensive players that can be categorized as the “worst”.
Prescott threw away from the sun to Williams for the touchdown on the subsequent possession, and the glare wasnt a factor after that. They used a second timeout on the final drive. The third-down throw that followed, to Garcon with 11 seconds remaining, fell incomplete.
Was ” FG Hopkins 20, :03. Likewise, going for it would have been tough, since the Redskins needed to gain 8 yards for the first down. He finished the contest with Tom Brady-like numbers as he connected on 41-of-53 passes for 449-yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
Three times in the second half they cut the Dallas lead from two scores to one. The past few games the offense has gotten out to a slow start, so it was good to see them open the game with a TD.
Their lead cut to 17-12, the Cowboys responded with a show of force that embarrassed almost every Redskins defender on the field. Elliott capped the drive with a 4-yard touchdown run, and Dallas led 7-0.
Though the game was over, the extra-curricular action continued between Bryant and Norman.
The rookies made the whole drive happen. Both times, a stop would have preserved a one-score game.
They moved to the Dallas 8-yard line with two minutes to play, trailing by 12, needing a touchdown and another onside kick. The 21-year-old had 97 yards to give him 1,199 for the season. DeSean Jackson caught four balls for 118 yards and a touchdown, and tight end Vernon Davis caught eight passes for 88 yards. He was given the franchise tag by the Redskins for this season after throwing 29 TD passes last season to go along with 4,166 passing yards.
